two sticks of butter

Here's my newest belly pic! I don't notice much change from the last one though...

This week's web update -
At 20.5 cms or 8.1 inches total length, your baby is growing rapidly. She weighs about 8 ounces. The bones are continuing the ossification process. The pads of the fingers and toes are formed and the fingerprints are developing as well. Baby's limbs are lengthening, and at last, body length is catching up to head size.

In case anyone is wondering just how much 8 ounces is...

This could get expensive...

I just got back from a mini shopping spree. I went out looking for longer shirts. Went to TJMaxx and they didn't even have a maternity section! Then went to Target (mainly because they have a bathroom!) and I saw that their 2-piece swim suits were on sale for $14.99 for each piece. I picked up 2 different sets and then rifled through the other sale racks. I found an awesome tankini! It must have been last year's stuff because it was only $4.88 for each piece! I tried them on and they fit great! I even stuffed my sweatshirt underneath to see how good it stretches. So I am set for my suit for the summer :) But...on the way home, I was thinking that if I get ~super huge~ I might want a bigger one and they had plenty of the tops in the next size up, so I'll stop back this week and pick up one of those and then I'll have options as I get bigger. Heck, for just $4.88 that's a steal! Then I went to Old Navy and got two short sleeved polo tops on sale for $7 each. They're a bit big now, but I bet in 2-3 weeks they'll be perfect!

Yep! That was definitely baby moving!

What I felt the other night WAS baby moving :)

I got up at 3am this morning and when I crawled back into bed I laid there waiting to try to feel something. Then, I remembered a few weeks ago (maybe at 12 weeks?) reading that if baby is poked, he moves... (like if the sonogram wand is poked into baby, she'll respond by moving)...so, I poked my belly just once and he poked back! It was so cute! I couldn't get her to do it again, but I fell back to sleep with a smile on my face.

Was it? Or wasn't it?

I think I felt the baby move...but I'm not sure!

Last night I was up to use the bathroom at 4am and when I got back into bed I was lying there on my back and felt one little weird thing just below my belly button. It wasn't low enough that I thought it was gas. My first thought was that it was the baby moving! All I read and hear is that "it feels like butterflys" ...but it felt nothing like a butterfly. It felt like a kick.

So, I guess now I just have to wait until I feel something like it again and then I'll be able to safely say that I felt the first movement at 16 weeks and 3 days :)

And if that wasn't it... then I'll let you all know when I "feel butterflys"...

Can't suck it in.

This is today's belly picture. Doesn't look like a lot changed in one week, but I feel like a lot changed. It's to the point now where even if I "suck it in"...I can't hide the little bump. No more flat belly for me...

third prenatal appointment

I'm back from my third appointment.

I'm up 2 more pounds... so 3 pounds total. I did get warned though that even though the gain has been slow so far, that these next two months are the months where lots of women get in trouble - sometimes gaining as much as 10 pounds a month! She said just to stay away from bon-bons and ice cream sundeas and make healthy choices... And I'm sure next time I reach for an unhealthy food my hubby will be whispering "10 pounds" into my ear since he was at the appointment too. LOL

I did get to hear the heartbeat again and the midwife was like "you've heard this before, right?" and I said, "yep, at my last appointment and almost everyday since" ...she looked at me kinda shocked. I told her I rented a doppler and she was really interested in where and if it really works. She said lots of women come back and report that they buy something from walmart/target and it doesn't work. I said, "nope, my machine looks almost like the one you're using and it's only $20/month" ... so she thought that was cool. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep the rental for 1 more month... that would take me to June 9th. If not, I only have it for 2 more weeks. Boo!

She felt for the fundal height (uterus) and she said it's right where it's supposed to be...half way up to my belly button. I couldn't feel it, but the nursing student that was in there could. I know that I feel it lower, but I just can't feel the top of it where they say you can feel a hard bump and it kinda rolls... I'm sure I'll keep looking for it. Richie is convinced our baby will be born with a dent in his (her?) head because of how often I poke at my belly! LOL!

We set up my next appointment for May 17. That will be the anatomical ultrasound and then an appointment with the OB to clear me to continue seeing the midwifes until I'm full term. I'm not very happy about the OB I'll be seeing. I've heard nothing great about him, but I guess as long as I don't have to see him anymore after that it'll all be good. The OB I wanted to have the appointment with didn't have any appts until the end of May and they didn't want to make me wait that long to have the next scan.

I feel like my belly has popped out a little more this week. I'll definitely be trying to take weekly belly pictures from here on out since I'm sure there'll be noticable changes now :)

15 weeks... I'm 4 months along now!

Here's my 15 week belly... everyone says they can see a tiny bit of pudge...

15 week update: Baby's nails are well formed, and some babies are even in need of having their nails trimmed at birth. The ears have also moved from the neck to the head.
Your baby is emptying his or her bladder every 40-45 minutes. The limb movements are becoming more coordinated. Your baby is about 3 ounces (85 grams) and 6.3 inches (16 cms).

They also say that soon I should be able to feel movement... I'll keep ya'll posted on that one!

I'm still getting headaches almost everyday...happens more in the evenings than mornings. Sleep seems to help. I am able to stay awake until 9pm consistently though :) I'm not pushing it any further than that though because I'm afraid of what I'll be like the next morning. My mood is snappy with people as it is...so I'm afraid to think what it would be like if I'm sleep deprived with all these hormones!

Went with Megan and Mom to David's Bridal this past Thursday. Had to find me a dress for the wedding in August. I'll be 33 weeks by then! I got to try on the belly suit and I felt pretty silly coming out of the dressing room wearing it! If I were not going to be pregnant in this wedding, I'd have ordered a size 6... but...I had to order a... 14!!! They had a 10 that I tried on with the belly suit and it was tight around the hips, but they didn't have a size 12 available to try... so I tried on the 14 and mom felt more comfortable ordering the 14 and having to way downsize it than ordering the 12 and possibly not having enough room. Here is the dress I'll be getting (in this color)...

And here is me trying to keep the dress from falling down after I took out the fake belly bump!

Order placed for Fluffy Mail

I just placed an order at FuzziBunzWorld.com for these 2 diapers in size small :) I know I don't have the baby yet, but I have been really good so far about buying things and now that I'm officially into the 2nd trimester I wanted to buy something!

And no...the blue doesn't mean I think we're having a boy. Blue is okay to use on a girl, but pink is not so okay to use on a boy... he he he! I actually had a dream 2 nights ago that we're having a girl... We'll see how that turns out.

Modifications...

I guess we're going to have to modify the window seat thingy... The electric baseboard heater is right under the window so there is no good way to put something that solid in front of it and still get good heat circulation. We talked about just making a stool type bench and not storing anything under it, but I think that would look silly and a little top heavy. I really like how the bench anchors the whole thing.

... so, now I guess the plan will be to just build 2 tall book shelves like these ones and we'll put them on either side of the window and put the glider/rocker in front of the window... We'll make the shelf units so that they can be put next to each other (no crown molding on them) in case someday we want to move them together for a different look.
