Mother's Day Pics

A day at the races...

We don't go to win big, we just go to play and have fun. We each take $20 for the day and that gives us $2 for each race (9 races) and an extra $2 to put on any race we want to bet a little more on.

Too bad we couldn't get any closer to the horses... This is where they warm the horses up before going onto the track and you can go get a good look at the horses you're betting on.

Hangin' with Daddy in the windy chilly weather.

It's nearly post time - and we're just waiting for the race to start...

And they're off...look at them go!

Alright! I think my horse is winning!

Go! Go! Go!!!

Grandma, Daddy and Laura

Don't sit there Mommy, that's bird 'oop.

Here they come - on the straight away...

Looking at the birds. I think she enjoyed watching the birds flying under the grandstands as much as she liked watching the horses.

See the white horse? The one in the lead? The one who won that race? Yep, his name is Sindbad the Sailor and I bet on him - Won myself 30cents he he he! (Placed a $2 bet, winnings was $2.30)

Happy Mother's Day!

Alright! We have a winner! $2 Boxed Exacta for #9 (Misplaced) and #8 (Exchange Artist) and they won it! I paid $4 for that bet and won a total of $7.40 on it!

There were two races that my money was no good in. Race #4, I bet on horse #2... "Gata Keep Trying"... Well, his jockey fell off at the start. Doh!

Race #5, I did a $1 boxed exacta on #2 (That'll Do) and #4 (Flirtatious Freud) and #4 scratched out of the race just seconds before post time... at least I got my money back for that race. Richie's mom got her money back on that race too - she'd bet on a daily double for races #5 and #6 and horse #4 was in her gameplan.

Poor Richie. Didn't win a thing all day. Hasn't won anything in the past 3 times going.

Mother's Day 2009

"Motherhood is the greatest potential influence either for good or ill in human life. The mother's image is the first that stamps itself on the unwritten page of the young child's mind. It is her caress that first awakens a sense of security; her kiss, the first realization of affection; her sympathy and tenderness, the first assurance that there is love in the world.” David O. McKay

(Stolen from Jenamarie's facebook!)

We had a great day at the races and I even won a couple of races - but I didn't bring home more than I went with sadly. Oh well! I'll post pics tomorrow night! Got some good ones :)

I had grand plans...

Last night I was going to upload some new pictures... I went to put my memory card from my camera into the downloader and it could not find the drive I usually store (ALL) of my pictures on... It said the external hard drive could not be recognized. Odd... I've been using it for just about a year now with NO problems. Could not find it. Windows would not recognize it. My stomach aches. My head aches. My heart aches. 19 months worth of Laura pictures. Gone. Do I have a back up? No, I guess that was me being naive thinking it wouldn't happen to me. But it did. They're gone. I've called tech support for the hard drive and they weren't really any help. Can I say it again? I literally feel sick.

I have an email into a data recovery company and I can only hope and pray they can retreive the data. Yes, I'll be paying a hefty price, but for baby pictures - no price is too much to pay...
