Starting to think about the nursery...

Well, we made our first purchase today for the nursery... we were down to Lowe's spending lots of money on our new kitchen cabinets and we wandered through the flooring/carpeting department "just to look". There in the aisle were 2 large rolls of tan color carpet... 12'x15' each... they were marked "returned special order item" ... retail price $291 each... sale price ... $100 each!!! WOOHOO! We walked out of there with both rolls for a total of $200 and have enough to do ~both~ of the extra bedrooms! I was so excited to find such a deal! We'll still have to buy carpet padding and the tack strips, but we couldn't pass up the savings :) Of course, we had the vibe with us so we had to pay for them... drive home... then drive back down with the truck to get them home.

I guess I could also post a picture of what we want to do in the nursery...
I found this picture in the pottery barn catalog... But Richie is handy enough that he's going to build it for the nursery :) It'll be in oak and it'll fit perfect along the front wall to frame the window.

Am I really pregnant?

I'm to the point where I am just about over the exhaustion (I mean the having to pass out as soon as I walk in the door each evening) ... I'm still asleep on the couch between 8-9, but that's better than 5-6ish!!!

I am also eating a lot better than I was! Everything tastes good!!! I feel like I'm always eating.

I just woke up this morning and realized I can feel a dense like thing if I press on my belly... so I'm guessing it's finally my uterus growing! I felt it the past couple of days, but as soon as I used the bathroom it disappeared again, but today it's there even after I went... so I'm guessing it's there to stay now.

My point is this...once I start growing...maybe I'll start to FEEL pregnant! Honestly, there are days where I forget I'm pregnant until someone says something about it or I look at my ultrasound pictures... like Tuesday...it was about 10:30am and I was plugging away at paperwork at my desk at work and I glanced up and saw the picture of the ultrasound on my desk in the frame and was like "wow! I totally forgot I'm pregnant!" and it brought a smile to my face :)

12 down - 28 to go!

...how come all the weekly update threads today are saying "Congratulations! Now you can share the news that you're pregnant!" ... um... I didn't know I was I supposed to wait!?! ha ha ha!

Here is baby Clark! I love this shot... you can really tell that it's a baby in there now :) I'm still not any bigger though so I don't know where he's hiding! It was so cool to see her moving all around on the screen...fidgeting...just like her momma does :)

I love this pose - doesn't it look like he's relaxing with his hands behind his head and his feet kicked up? Just enjoying her cozy home.

She is 5.5 cm long crown to rump and heart rate was 155.

I feel SToOOooPiD!

Had a stupid moment today...

I went to order subs at subway for dinner tonight and I couldn't remember what Richie gets on his subs. Now, it's not like he changes his mind all the time... he gets the same thing each time and he has for the past 3.5 years... Also, more often than not, I order the subs and bring them home... so it's not like I don't know what he gets...

...but today I couldn't remember what else he likes past the main ingredients... I have a feeling he won't be happy that I didn't get olives...but I still can't recall if he ~likes~ the olives on his sub or not... LOL!

Please tell me my brain will return someday!?! I feel so STooOOoPid most days!

Peace of Mind

For $22 a month...I'm going to LOVE this doppler!

It arrived today and after about 3 minutes I was able to find the baby's heartbeat. I checked the rate and it's 160... that means girl, right? I'll have to go find a website that lists all those "old wives tales" so we can see which are right and which are wrong.

I just called my mom and dad so they could hear their grandbaby for the first time :) Baby cooperated just fine and they both heard it loud and clear!

Then I ate dinner.

Then I tried finding the heartbeat again so I could call Aunt Megan...but all I could find was blub blub gurgle gurgle from dinner! Guess I'll wait a couple more hours for that one! LOL!

Headaches

Well, it seems I got the genetics my mom did as far as morning sickness goes...and we both pretty much avoided it. I wish I could avoid the headaches she got around 3 months, but I think I'm headed in that same general direction. I'm 10 weeks now and starting Friday night I had a pretty bad headache. I thought it was because I stretched myself thin on sleep that day by not getting in a nap and then going out to the school play that evening... but even after a good night sleep, all day Saturday I had a headache. Here it is Sunday morning and I've still got one. It's definitely not a migraine, but it's still no fun.

On happier notes... here's a little update about little Fidget... (yeah, the in-utero nickname for this little one is Fidget)... :)

Your baby-to-be is about 50 millimeters crown to rump and weighs about eight grams (about a quarter of an ounce, or about the weight of 8 paperclips). The irises are now forming. The liver, intestines, brain and lungs are beginning to function on their own. The primitive "tail" is now gone. The intestines are beginning to migrate into the abdominal cavity and the external genitalia are present but difficult to distinguish. Now that most of the major organ work is done, your baby adds such details as hair, fingernails and toenails. While your baby's head is nearly as large as the rest of her body, head growth begins to slow during this period.

Baby Brother

Kevin and Hunter called last night. Kevin said that him and Amy had the gender ultrasound done yesterday and he put Hunter on to tell me the news. He said he is having a baby brother, but that he won't come out until July because he still has to get big. I asked him if he has a name picked out for the new baby and he said, "well, just baby brother is all". And then he went on to tell me that they got to see pictures of baby brother and that "He was Sooooo ~cute~!" It was just adorable to hear it the way Hunter said it. He'll make a great big brother :)

So, whatever gender our child is, he'll have 2 boy cousins.

Baby Beat

www.babybeat.com ... just stumbled across this site and I placed an order... In just a few days my rental doppler will arrive in the mail. I figure I can use it for 2 months and then ship it back. It'll get me through until I can feel the baby move when I can be better assured that everything is A-OK in there :) And I'm sure Richie will LOVE not having to listen to me worry! I love that I'll be able to let other people hear the heartbeat too :)

Last evening Richie discovered yet another reason why he likes me being pregnant. When we crawled into bed... my feet were actually ~warmer~ than his were! That has never happened before!!!

I had today off from work, but I didn't do a whole lot. Got my teeth cleaned early this morning then went to get groceries. Came home and ate lunch and passed out for a 3.5 hour nap on the couch. I wasn't the only lazy one though... Toby slept with me the whole time. (Toby is my cat for anyone who doesn't already know that!)

Oh yeah... yesterday I felt really yucky in the middle of the day... ate a bunch (ok, way too many!) roasted garlic triscuts with squeeze american cheese on them... an hour later I was belching garlic and felt SO terrible! I was on the verge of puking, but I didn't. It settled down after I drank a lot of water and munched on some almonds.

Second Prenatal Visit

We had our second visit with the midwife yesterday. This time Richie went with me and we saw Graham. It was a short visit, but it was wonderful! We got to hear our baby's heartbeat!!! That was the most amazing sound ever! She had no problem finding the heartbeat even though I was only 9 weeks 2 days along.

Weight: 133# (yep, put on 1 pound already)
BP: 138/70 ...a little high for me, but I expected that because we drove through a snowstorm/whiteout conditions to get to the office!

We went over results of lab work. I am happy to report that I'm healthy :) I am also not immune to rubella anymore so I'll be offered a vaccine for that after delivery. My blood type is B negative... so I have to get that Rhogam shot ... But I knew that already.

We set up the next appointment for the integrated screening test (ultrasound and blooodwork) to be done in 2 weeks ... so, March 21st we go for that. After that we'll have appointments every 4 weeks.

I am not showing at all yet... hence no belly pictures...but believe me, once there is a belly... you will see belly pictures :)

Pregnancy Humor

Aunt Marilyn sent this to me this morning and I laughed quite a bit :)

ACTUAL AUSTRALIAN COURT DOCKET 12659---CASE OF THE PREGNANT LADY A lady about 8 months pregnant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat. This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused. When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing, she complained to the driver and he had the man arrested.

The case came up in court. The judge asked the man (about 20 years old) what he had to say for himself.

The man replied, "Well your Honor, it was like this, when the lady got on the bus, I couldn't help but notice her condition. She sat down under a sign that said, 'The Double Mint Twins are coming' and I grinned. Then she moved and sat under a sign that said, 'Logan's Liniment will reduce the swelling,' and I had to smile. Then she placed herself under a deodorant sign that said, "William's Big Stick Did the Trick," and I could hardly contain myself. But, Your Honor, when She moved the fourth time and sat under a sign that said, 'Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident'... I just lost it."

"CASE DISMISSED!!"

:)
