I've failed...

... my 1 hour glucose test that is. Today I got a 139 on it... the cut off is 135. Now I have to do the 3 hour glucose test. I am SO not looking forward to it. I have a hard time making it past 5am without getting out of bed to get something to eat - how in the world am I going to make it to 7:45am without eating anything - then chugging a glass of sugar water - and then lasting 3 more hours? I am going to be so miserable that day. So yeah, like I said - REALLY not looking forward to that.

What really gets me though...? 2 years ago when I did the 1 hour test when I was pregnant with Laura, I got 120. At that time, the cutoff was 140! See what they did? They lowered the range for "normal". I wonder if it really makes THAT big of a difference, or if this is an insurance company thing and now I qualify for more testing so they'll make more money and I have to pay more money.

How did the rest of the appointment go? Fine. I'll be 28 weeks tomorrow. Met the other new midwife who I'd not yet met... her name is Mahrie. She was very nice and now I'm glad I've met all 4 of them and would be happy with any of them attending the delivery :)

The nitty gritty...
Got another rhogam shot today. The nurse told me she'd be giving it in my butt and I said "no, I'll have it in my arm please". ... she told me she didn't understand why since it hurts so much more there, but she did it in my arm and surprise - it didn't hurt at all :) (Just like last time I had it) ... and the time before that.
BP 120/60
Baby's HR: 145 Very consistent! She didn't indicate whether he's head up or down, and now I regret not asking... I'm very curious what I'm feeling where... I think it's a butt I feel on my upper right side.
Weight... 164# .... up 9 pounds since my last visit. Up a total of 30# already! Eek! Marhie didn't believe me when I told her that was my total - until she looked it up herself - then her eyes bugged out a bit and I told her "that's how I do pregnancy ... 10ish pounds a month for the last 4 months". I also told her about my edema more than half way up my calves, and my swollen hands. This pregnancy is going exactly the same as last time as far as that goes.

Speaking of swollen hands... I had to take my wedding ring off a week ago. What do I miss about wearing my ring? The looks and the comments from other people. I could just feel the eyes on me from the other pregnant moms at the appointment today. There were three other couples there and there I was by myself, no wedding band on... I just felt like they were all looking at me differently, if you know what I mean. And then, I go into the room with the midwife, and she asks me a question about my "partner". I informed her I'm married. I hate that word "partner".

Sorry, just irked a little today I guess...

NIghtmares

So, the first time around, I had no fears or worries about labor and delivery. People always asked me if I was getting nervous or worried... and I always told them that No... my biggest worry about the whole thing was finding good daycare for our kidlet - and other than that, I could handle the labor/delivery thing. I didn't do any thinking/planning - I just went in with an open mind, not really knowing what to expect. I didn't want my heart set on a certain "Birth plan" and then be disappointed when it didn't go as planned.

This time around? That's a different story. I KNOW what labor and delivery is like. ... and I'm starting to have nightmares. I had a braxton hicks last night before bed with some cramping - and I'm pretty sure that's what set me into a night long nightmare... I kept dreaming that I was admitted to the hospital and having contractions... strong ones... but that I stalled out and wasn't progressing - and all the other women coming in after me kept having their babies, and then getting discharged - and there I sat - still having contractions and no baby. It wasn't a fun night.

25 week recap...

Above picture taken on Halloween ... 24.5 weeks.
Below picture taken day after Halloween... so technically still 24.5 weeks.
Don't I look a lot bigger in the top picture!?! I know the angle isn't the same, but I think I look bigger there.

Swollen fat sausage fingers.
Belly Button has become a thing of the past.
More stretch marks are forming everyday.
Heartburn.
Backache.
Left hip feels like it's going to go out on me constantly.
And I'm afraid to say, I don't think I'll be able to avoid the cankles this time.

After all that - some may ask ... Do I hate being pregnant? Nope. I love it. Not every little aspect of it, but overall... I do love it :)
