Not bragging - Just blogging
Laura slept through the night last night. It's been a long time since that last happened. And the night before she was up 4 times in the night! I wonder what tonight will be like. Last night I nursed and rocked her at 7:45. She took a 3 ounce bottle after she nursed. She stayed awake as I rocked her and snuggled real good. Kept her eyes open though and hummed to herself. Then I put her down - and not a peep for TEN hours. Yep, didn't hear from her until 5:45. She ate then and I woke her up at 7 so we could get ready for the day.
Here are a couple recent (July) sleep pictures. I know Annie asked to see her zoo...I think you can see it all between these two pictures.

Couple more quick things I forgot for 10 month update...
She hates the vacuum. I can't figure out if she thinks it's hurting me...or if it'll hurt her. Poor girl was screaming yesterday as I was vacuuming up the box of spilled Kix cereal. She wanted to come to me for comfort, but the closer she got the more she yelled and then she'd sit back down and cry... good thing it took all of 2 minutes to clean up the mess. She actually ended up crawling to me screaming and then clung onto me as tight as she could while whimpering until I was done.
And her newest nickname should be bruiser. She is getting all these little bruises on her - cheeks, legs etc... she's so clumsy now trying to get this "stand up and walk" thing mastered.

Sterling Renaissance Festival

This is how we spent the day she turned 10 months old...
Daddy typically carries her around like this - she loves it! Can hold onto his ears, his had, or pull his hair to hang on. We were watching an acrobatic show.

This is one of the axes I threw! I didn't hit my target, but I didn't kill anyone either ha ha ha! This picture is for Eric. He said he wanted to see her holding an axe. We did better than the fake wooden ones for sale - we got her with the real thing... although, she does look terrified, huh?

We watched a show with "mud men"... need I say more? The front few rows were the splash zone so we sat further back and went to say hi after the show. Not sure Laura knew what to think of him!

Mmmm! Giant BBQ Turkey Leg. Laura helped me eat mine - she devoured it!

Talking during the daniel duke of danger show. (This is actually the picture I cropped the tooth shot out of for the other post)

Watching the jousting at the end of the day.

You can see the jousting area behind Laura.

10 months!
10 month update - (a couple days late)
*She is so close to walking! She frequently gets in a standing position and lets go to balance - then either sits down slowly or leans onto the nearest thing. I believe in 2-3 more weeks she'll be taking steps.
*She is pretty much in a size 12 outfit, although she still has a pair of 3-6 month shorts that fit her and a few 18 month outfits that fit too... sizing is SO random!
*She doesn't ever wear shoes so I can't tell you what size she wears.
*She will "volley" a conversation if you repeat something similar to what she said.
*No real words other than "mama" and "dada" - and even those are hit and miss on using them in the right context. Although, I most often hear "mama" when she's callign for me from her crib in the night.
*She understands her name (will look when called). She seems to understand "no"...at least she stops momentarily and looks at us.
*We're trying to sign "more" and "eat" and "stop" and "all done" with her, but we're so inconsistent that she hasn't picked up any of them yet. It's hard with her being at daycare 5/7 days a week...
*She goes down to sleep at night wonderfully! Either nurses or dozes playing with her animals.
*Still up typically 3 times a night (and nurses back down). 10ish - 1-2ish - 4-5ish ... oh well. I love the snuggle time with her :)
*She is back to napping in her baby bouncy chair most of the time at daycare... I think being away for 2 different weeks in July really threw off her routine there.
***Mental note*** Try to get a picture of her asleep in it!
*Her favorite pasttime in the living room is to open the arm of the lazyboy chair where the remotes are stored and empty that out.
*She eats nearly everything. At this point, I couldn't even try to list the things she does eat! She does not like the consistency of cottae cheese. If I mash it, she'll tolerate it. She ate black beans with cheddar cheese for lunch today - she also enjoyed sharing my portobello mushroom sandwich the other day... she's been known to munch on onions and zuchinni too - so not just your normal "baby" foods... she's eating whatever we're eating :)
*Fruits are still her go-to will-always-eat food though!
*Still in medium fuzzibunz ...that's 7 months in the same size :) Growing out of the medium bumgenius though ...not sure if we'll get larges of those or not.
*At daycare, Suzie and Jenna get the biggest smiles these days. Her best kid buddy is currently Leah. We'll be sad when Leah goes to kdg in another month :(
*She loves chasing the cats. Toby is really good with her - she can grab fist fulls of hair and he'll tolerate a bit of that before he makes his exit. Usually Miranda sees her coming and makes her get away to the top of the couch.
*Laura loves being chased. She's a really fast crawler and she loves it when someone is crawling behind her to "get" her.
*She giggles the best giggles - full belly laughter :)
*She has 2 teeth. The second one (bottom right) came in a couple days before turning 10 months old. (There was no warning this one was on it's way!) Let's hope a few more come in that way! Look --- Finally got a picture!
(yes, this was taken on the day she was 10 months old)
*Her favorite sleep position is on her belly with her butt in the air.
*She rarely takes a pacifier anymore.
*She has no interest in sippy cups. Would much rather take the bottle for pumped milk. If anyone has a waterbottle though - watch out - she wants her share too.
***Mental note*** Try her with a regular cup.
*She'd rather feed herself things than be fed off a spoon.
*She is great about her baths now - lets me pour the water right over her head and as long as I run my hand over her face afterwards to clear her face off she's fine. She even tips her head back a bit when she hears me count "1-2-3".
*She is taking anywhere between 8-12 ounces of milk at daycare plus a full lunch of solids.
*Size 4 huggies overnight. ...and I think she could fit in a 5... hope we can make it through with 4's for a few more months though. I have a case and a half left! (Thank you to the mom at daycare that cleaned them out of the closet and stocked me up!)
*A play session in the morning or evening typically goes like this: Play with toy - crawl to mommy and lay head in her lap for a short while - play with toy - crawl to mommy and lay head in her lap for a short while - play with toy (get the idea?) It's so cute - like little hugs.
*Hair is long and wispy on top and finally covered in all those bare bald spots :)
*bedtime is 7-7:30 if we're home.
*Naps are typically an am "cat" nap (like 20-30 minutes) and then a longer afternoon nap - OR a solid late morning to early afternoon nap.
*She has bitten me twice. Once was tonight actually and I said no and took her off. She looked at me and started bawling! I gave her a hug, rocked her for like 30 seconds and then let her eat. Didn't do it again.
I think that pretty much wraps up the details of my busy 10 month olds life.
Yes - I am aware that I am way behind on pictures. I am sorry for that :(

Um...where do I start to get back into blogging?
Been busy - not much else I can do, but just try to jump in and try to keep up again... I don't think I can think of everything that's been going on over the past 2 weeks.
... my grandma passed away on July 14 and we went up to be with family for that whole week. Laura was so well behaved the whole time. Even with minimal naps, she wasn't a terror. I just loved how everytime her great grandpa would see her he'd get a big smile on his face... in fact, she brought a lot of smiles to lots of faces the whole week.
This week we were all trying to readjust to being back on a schedule. I didn't do so well with getting up in the mornings. Usually laura is up at 6am... many mornigns this week she slept past 6:30 - one morning she fell back asleep at 6:30 ON ME and slept until 7... who was I to wake her up? So, I dozed to sleep too. Needless to say - I worked a little later those days to make up my time spent lazing in the mornings :P Laura didn't do so well at daycare this week with her naps. They were sporatic in length. And she was back in the bouncy chair - argh. ... the girl just has a rough time falling asleep in that pack-n-play.
Overnights:
About a week ago, I let Laura nurse at 8pm and then gave her a 2 ounce bottle (only because she had started it earlier and I didn't want to dump it out)... well, she slept past midnight! Woohoo! I figured that if I'm not going to bed until later, I'll "top her off" with the bottle at the last feeding before I go to bed, not the one where she actually goes down. The next night I gave her a 3 ounce bottle after nursing at 10ishpm and she was out until like 4 something! It's been good like that all week (Shhh... I don't want to say that too loudly or she'll be awake all night tonight!)
She doens't take a pacifier much anymore (it's been over a week since she's taken it)... and she goes to sleep either nursing or just hangs out in the crib babbling to her zoo of animals and passes out with her butt in the air. It was a long time coming, but I'm so glad she knows how to get to sleep now without HAVING to nurse or without having to cry for more than maybe a minute or two.
A picture from this week...
Look what Laura found! (I'm surprised it took her this long!)

Wore her out!
Usually Laura takes a 20 minute am nap and a longer afternoon nap. Yesterday with going to the boat races, she had her 20 minute am nap but her afternoon nap was only about that long as well... I think she's making up for it today...
I put her down for her am nap at 10... it's now noon and she's still out!
Edit:
She woke up at 12:30 - I nursed her and she went right back to sleep.. UNTIL 1:50! That makes nearly 4 hours of nap! WOW! She was the happiest little girl when she woke up :)
And surprisingly, she went down so easy tonight - no fussing. That's two nights in a row now that she's taken the pacifier and just sat in her crib holding differnet animals from her zoo and then passed out on her own. Her zoo currently consists of: 2 bears, 1 horse, 1 rabbit, 1 duck and the zookeeper dolly... not sure where her piggy went to!

Fingerlakes International Dragon Boat Festival
Today Laura and I went and cheered on my work team for the dragon boat races. Our team came in 2nd out of 7 community teams. Not bad for their first year competing! Here's the crew ... Racker Racers

Here's some of us cheering...

It was SO hot in Ithaca today! I'm not sure what it maxed out at, but I bet it was over 90! We stayed under the bridge for a good part of the day - at least there was a breeze! We drank smoothies and lots of water... Laura and the other kids enjoyed having water poured over them to keep cool.
Laura was smiling and waving to just about anyone and everyone. She was happy all day -

...except when I tried to get her to wear her hat!

Ah, finally a picture with the moms and babies!
Katie and Owen (13 mos)
Me and Laura (9.5 mos)
Lori and Isabella (16 mos)
And - just the babies... Isabella had a nap earlier in the day so by the time Laura and Owen finally zonked out (after a walk), Isabella was wide awake and ready to go!

Check out the tatoo on Laura's arm! We all got to wear team tatoos with the centers logo on them.

Making banana bread
...And Laura helped! (So did Richie!)
I made banana bread last weekend and Laura wanted to help... (or, I wanted her to help...)
I put the ripe bananas in a gallon ziplock baggie and tossed it over to Richie and Laura and told them to mash away... she sat on it, banged on it, and stood on it... the bread came out very tasty and it was fun to make with a little help :)

Vacation
Mommy and Laura visiting Delta Lake for the first time...

Laura and her Great Grandpa! Love this pic :)

Ahhhh - her first trip on a swing... and let me just say that she's been on a swing a few other times since then since she loved it so much! Once at the park at the birthday party - and then again at daycare. She is too cute on the swing - huge smile and giggles nearly the whole time.

I took last week off of work and we ended up having a very busy week! It was fun, but also exhausting. Getting into bed after 10 most nights really did me in! I was glad for the few mornings that Laura decided to sleep in a bit (like 7-7:30ish)... and the one day that she woke up at 6:30 and was ready for a nap at 7:20 and ended up sleeping for a nap until 9! :)
Saturday: Went to my 10 year high school reunion...
Sunday-Wednesday visited camp (my mom, and dad for a few hours) and went to visit my grandmas and grandpa...also visited the zoo :)
Thursday - a day at home mostly - and went grocery shopping. Yes, as some of you have heard, we (Laura and I) took a nap at Aldi's. Now, before you go thinking that's really weird, let me explain - we left here around 12:30 (that's nap time!) ... Laura passed out in the carseat on the 10 minute drive (like she always does). Well, by the time I got to Aldi's, it was pouring rain. A nice drenching rain that would have been no fun running through with a tired baby who was woken up early from her solid afternoon nap... so, I crawled in the back seat of the van and laid down on the seat - woke up an hour and 15 minutes later when she woke up from her nap. The rain had slowed down, we both had good naps...and we had a pleasant afternoon doing our grocery shopping. There, not so weird after all... :)
Friday - A picnic and Grandma and Grandpa Clarks. Laura rode the tractor for the first time and went in the big pool :) She enjoyed both!
Saturday - picnic at a friend's house... I think my favorite part was the nap in the hammock! I didn't fall asleep, but it put Laura right out and was very comfy :)
Sunday - A birthday party for a 1 year old little boy.
See? Busy "vacation!"
And so, a few pictures to share...
Zoo:

Laura and her grammie at the delta beach - talking with aunt megan on the phone.

Enjoying an ice cream ... Mmm! It was muggy and this was way past Laura's bed time. I tried getting her to fall asleep by walking her in the stroller over at the nursing home, but she just liked saying "ah ah ah" and listening to her echo in the atrium... so yeah, that was a late bedtime for her!

Laura and her great grandpa holding hands ... awe!

Still to come: tractor and pool pics and birthday party pics... didn't get to those yet.
oh yes - and our attempt at trying to get a picture of her tooth... not so successful... will keep trying!
