Telling the family...

Sunday morning we headed to Mom and Dad Clarks house. We wanted to catch mom before she left for work. Just as we got there she was getting ready to head out the door so Richie just told her "hey, if you get bored or it's slow at work today just think about the fact that you'll be a grandma times two this year!" (Richie's sister in law and brother are expecting baby #2 in July) She looked at me and said "REALLY!?!" Then got up and gave us big hugs and was out the door to work. Dad didn't really say much, but he's excited too!

We went to Aunt Jill's house for a haircut and dinner that evening, and we told them all. Grandma Hand had to go and lift my shirt to look at my belly... I was like "um...nothin' there yet Gram!" She told me she wouldn't tell anyone, but I am suspecting that ~she's~ the one who called and left a message on Uncle Jack and Aunt Les' phone... because...

Monday afternoon I called Amanda and told her that I had to stop by to drop off Christmas presents for her (from Kevin and Dawn) and she was like "Are you sure you aren't calling to tell me something else?" I assured her I wasn't and told her I'd see her at 5:30 after she went to pick up her daughter. She picked up Lexi and was home when I arrived at 5:30...when I met her at the door she said "You LIED to me!" ... she said while she was over to Jack and Les' she found out because someone left a message that morning saying we were expecting... so much for telling our own news! Rumors sure spread quickly! (true or not!)

I called my brother Kevin and his wife Dawn on Monday evening. I asked Kevin how he'd like to be called "uncle kevin" from now on... I think he got the hint! I could just see the grin on his face through his voice! This is where I asked them to get in on helping me tell my mom and dad... I asked Dawn to pick up some flowers for "grandma and grandpa" and take them over to her while I was on the phone with her...

So, Tuesday evening I called my mom and had her chatting about a random recipe and Dawn and Kevin walked in with the flowers. For not being able to be there and tell them in person, I think this was a pretty good way to do it! (Thanks for the idea Jenn!)
