Well, we survived my first week back to work...but just barely! Ugh!
Last Sunday night she woke up at 4am congested. Made me feel like a bad mom for having to leave her at daycare sick for her first day. I got teary eyed a few times, but overall it wasn't bad. I had cried Sunday evening though as I was putting her to bed because I just kept thinking that when I set her in the crib and went to bed, that my time home with her was over...so I just kept holding her and holding her and didn't put her down for a long time.
Tuesday I stayed home with her (yes, I called out on my second day back to work!) ... She was congested and didn't sleep well at all...so I didn't sleep well and I just didn't want to face the day with no sleep.
Tuesday at 11am...she refused to eat! Refused the boob again. Another nursing strike. Let me just say that the next three days were hell here... I was crying, she was crying. She just wouldn't eat. I finally called our Kit (the lactation consultant) at home on wednesday evening and talked with her some and then ended up taking Luara into the office on Thursday morning for a check up just to make sure nothing physical was causing her to strike. No ear infection or anything. We were told that some babies just do that at about 3 months and sometimes we never know why. Well, this was her SECOND nursing strike... Talk about a rough last week home and first week back to work. All I wanted to do when I got home from work was huggle and snuggle and nurse my baby...and she wanted none of that. She cried herself to sleep way too many times those 3 days. Well, Thursday afternoon she snapped out of her funk and has been nursing just fine since then! I hope we never have another nursing strike...ever! But I'm glad to know we can survive it!
