Laura has found her ... tongue! It's the cutest thing! We were at the pool on Saturday (more on that later!) and after we were done, she started sticking her tongue out and "wagging" it at me... I thought she may be hungry - but she wasn't... she was just experimenting with her new found body part. She has kept up this tongue fascination each day since then. Sometimes she sticks it out repeatedly, and other times you'd swear she's making a meal out of the thing. Chews and chews and chews on it. So funny to watch!
Saturday was Laura's third time swimming - and she finally enjoyed herself!!! YAY! She was smiling while we were there... looking around and actually having a good time. She loved it when I laid her on her back in my arms - she could suck on her toes and she was just in heaven doing that. I did dunk her again and she surprisingly didn't scream loudly afterwards - just fussed a little and after I hugged her in close and let her get her toes again she was fine.
She is also sitting up a bit on her own. I've had lots of people ask if she is sitting up on her own in the 5 month picture I've posted - but we kinda cheated with that...she's really supported by the couch cushions. BUT - since then she's even gotten better at sitting. She does great if she's leaning slightly forward with her hands on her feet (or the floor) but as soon as she lets go she starts falling backwards and shows no signs of being able to try to catch herself. She is also bearing weight on her legs really well now!!! Rich thinks she'll be the kid who is so efficient she skips crawling and goes right to walking. I just know when she's doing that we'll miss these non-mobile days! As it is now, she scoots around when we put her on the ground for tummy time. She pushes up with her arms and manages to scoot herself backwards - usually right off the piddle pad she's on so she's actually gotten the floor wet a couple times. Oops :)
No more signs of teeth yet - we've thought a few times that there might be some trying to come through - but her temperment is back to normal since she's feeling better. Her sleep routine is back to normal too :) Just getting up 1-2 times each night. I'm not even doing her "dream feed" every night now. (I used to feed her in her sleep just before I go to bed at 9:30-10).
Her hair - that's another story - my poor girl is losing her long locks of hair! I looked in her crib the other morning and thought to myself that her sheet looks nasty - upon closer inspection, it's all her hair falling out. Her left side of her head is nearly bald and so is the front part - the front just looks like it has hair because what's on top is so long that it falls down the front. I was just noticing when I was feeding her before I just put her to bed for the night that her right side of her head is pretty bald too - she could sport a pretty mean mohawk if I had some hair gel! Oh yes, and of course she has the baby pattern bald spot on the back of her head...that's been there for weeks now.

So try the mohawk, it would be great for a picture!
I totally regret not putting Colin's hair in a ponytail before it all fell out. Now he has a buzz cut. Oh well.
RY bloop notes:
Man you sure do have a lot of catching up to do. Being a busy career Mom I'm surprised you had time to sit down and read all that gibber.
I knew you would like the baby talk. I'm thinking around Wayne's birthday we'll start trying. That would be May 12th. I'm sure Wayne will be the same way. He'll make an awesome Dad.
OUr Elaine D is still the best aid ever. We hired a new Elaine...C. Thankfully she has no quit. Hopefully I'll get caught up with my blogging during my next two days off.
I love hearing about the progressions of Laura's life. Makes me really want a little one of my own.
