I figure I'll update slowly about what Laura has been up to - first update - Potty Time!
Laura is full blown into the potty training stage! If anyone has pointers or tips, I'd love to hear them!
A couple months back, I picked up a potty ring seat for Laura to try to just get used to sitting on the potty. It took her a week or so of sitting on it each night before her bath before she peed in it. It was probably another few weeks before we had another success - and then we went a good stretch of time with no real interest. Last week though, she started asking for potty often. We take her when she asks - but most of the time she just sits - and sits - and sits - and occasionally asks for a "buup" or book. I also picked up a toddler sized potty at a yard sale for $1 about a month ago and a couple weeks ago she started showing interest in that too. She's actually now had more successes on that, than on the big potty. Some mornings, she wakes up and the first word out of her mouth is "potty".
Last week, there was a morning where she was awake at 6am and downed a whole cup of millk and then passed out for another hour (as did Richie and I!) - when she woke up at 7, we quick quick quick put her on the potty and she almost imediately went! Then she toddled down the hallway - and piddled there. We put her back on the potty and she went again!
Our biggest obstacle now: she doesn't want to wear her diapers! She screams and cries "potty" almost everytime we try to put a diaper on her. Oh, and another obstacle is that she's been seen trying to strattle the potty and pee standing up. Hmmm... time for daddy to shut the door. He he he!
I ended up putting a pull up on her yesterday at nap time because she adamatly refused the diaper. She was wet when she woke up though.
In the evenings, I'm trying the method of - fill her with liquids and let her run around naked and offer the potty every 5-10 minutes. The other night, she went in the potty after 45 minutes and had no accidents. And tonight she went an hour after drinking a bunch of juice - and no accidents.
I think we're onto something! Let's keep a good thing going! :) How sweet it would be to have a few diaper free months between kids!
