3 hour test

Went in today for the 3 hour test. I was having such a hard time making Laura's lunch today - I wanted to eat a couple huge ripe raspberries as I put them in her lunch. I wanted to eat the skins as I peeled her apple... I wanted to lick the spoon after scooping up her yogurt - but I COULDN'T! That is the cruelest test to do to a pregnant lady!

I asked the lab lady when they changed the standard from 140 down to 135. She said she is just as annoyed with it as I was because it's always changing. And, in this very practice - one of the doctors that used to be there would use his own number, but the other doctors would use a different one - so not even consistent within the same practice. Then she told me how inaccurate the readings are anyways. She told me that she's had a 300 pound lady fail the 1 hour with a glucose of 258 but pass the 3 hour with flying colors... and then have a skinny little white girl (her words, not mine) barely fail the 1 hour and flop the 3 hour... I'm hoping that one is NOT me!

The first hour wasn't bad. By the second hour, I was feeling dizzy. She said that was a good thing because it probably means I was "bottoming out" with my blood sugar - but that I still had to go for another hour. I ended up sleeping on the couch for the last hour and a half since I could barely see straight enough to read a book... When I stood up for the last blood draw at the 3 hour mark, I was bumping into the walls as I walked to the lab - not fun.

Got to drink some apple juice and felt a little better. Made it to the car and scarfed down half my lunch and felt much better! I was given permission to eat whatever I want for the rest of the day - I am thinking I'll make a batch of chocolate chip cookies tonight :) Heck, if I call tomorrow and get the results and they're not good - it may be the last batch of chocolate chip cookies I can indulge in guilt free!

I'll call tomorrow to see where we go from here.

One good thing - I was able to be seen today for my 2 week appointment so I don't have to go back tomorrow. Bad thing though, they had me see the nurse practitioner instead of a midwife - had I known that, I probalby would have just said I'd keep my appointment for tomorrow. Seriously, all she did was weight me, check my BP, listen for the heartbeat, and measure my belly. Didn't have her computer there so I didn't get to ask any of my questions - she would have had to look back in the computer (at my chart) to know the answers... guess my questions will have to wait another 2 weeks. Oh, and I forgot to ask her if he's head down... but I have a feeling he is.

The nitty gritty:
weight 166# ... see that?!?!?! ONLY up 2 pounds in the last 2 weeks! HOW did that happen with Thanksgiving in there!?!?!
BP 102/60something
HR 140's (still very consistent)
Belly measuring 29 weeks. (I'll be 30 weeks in 2 days).

Questions for next time...
Is he head down?
Am I getting another ultrasound to check placenta position? I was told at the 20 week one that I'd get another one around 30-32 weeks. My next appointment is at 32 weeks.
Also probalby should ask about getting the white packet of info ... the book that includes the info for preregistration at the hospital and papers for filling out the birth certificate.

I want to see belly pics!

just a suggestion. At 20 weeks my placenta was low so they told me they were going to do another u/s around 28-30 weeks. at 30 weeks I went in and THEN she decided to schedule an u/s so I had to come back the next week. My suggestion is to call and ask if she wants to you schedule an u/s or if she is just going to do it during the appointment. I thought the doctor would quick look at the appointment, but I had another full u/s. It was annoying to have to make a separate trip for that!
