Dare I say she's on the mend now?

YesterdayI picked Laura up from Lynne's house and she was so fussy/whiney and clingy. She fell asleep on the way home and I let her sleep in the carseat in the van (in the garage) until she woke up an hour later. Gave her tylenol. She perked up briefly, fell asleep at 8pm. Up screaming at 10:30pm. Temp 100.7. Gave ibuprofen and we limped along through the night with her alternating between falling asleep with me in my bed then me putting her in her bed - then her waking up a little while later and repeating it again. Richie crashed on the couch for the night. She was up at 2am and I brought her in with me - then she woke up wretching at 4am and puked up a nasty bunch of dried cherries from more than 12 hours before (gross, I know!)... then she slept until 6:30ish.
She stayed home with Richie today. She ran a temp of 101.4 midmorning and then up to 101.9 this afternoon. I asked Rich not to medicate her unless she acted unhappy/uncomfortable or it went above 102. So, she went all day with no meds.
Then I got home at 4ish - looked at her ear and saw the right one all gross and redish brownish draining. Called the doctors and they were able to get us right in. She has a "mad and angry" right sided ear infection. Dr. Bradshaw said it wasn't ruptured, but I find that very hard to believe seeing how much drainage there was and the fact that she was not unhappy all day long. If there was that much build up and such behind a buldging ear drum - she'd be miserable. I bet it was like that yesterday, popped sometime overnight and today was draining. So, now we have one dose of amoxicillin in her and a dose of ibuprofen and she's snoozing away... hopefully she's on the mend now. Oh, and the antibiotic will hopefully kick the crud she's coughing and sneezing/sniffling too...

Can I just say how thankful I am for a great doctor's office? I called at 4:15 and asked how late they're open today. I was expecting them to say the time and tell me they didn't have anymore openings but if I felt the need was urgent, to take her to (not-so) convenient care. But instead, she said "it depends on how many patients we have to see". I told her what was going on and she took my info and had a nurse call me back. Not 5 minutes later the nurse called back and said to bring her right in. The roads were bad beacuse of today's snow/sleet, but she said to take my time and they'd see us when we got there. So, we got there at 4:45 and were seen right away. That is awesome service. I did however get the "why didn't she come in sooner" lecture. (oh well!)

Then, can I just say how thankful I am for drive through pharmacies? I love not having to take Laura out of the carseat to go in and pick up the meds. Just have the doctor's office fax or call the script over, drive through and pick up the meds. Easy Peasy. :)

I got the "why didn't you come in sooner" lecture last time I was in as well. Oops! Glad I am not the only one!
