Marbles...steps...boo...uh-oh...

So I thought I was going to have a trip to the ER with Laura last week. We were getting ready in the morning and she was sitting in our bedroom playing with a box with (what I thought were safe) breast pads in it. I was headed to the bathroom to brush my teeth and get ready and I turned back to check on her. I am glad I did - I noticed she had a little round blue thing in her hand. There was another little green thing between her legs. There was another pink thing in her other hand...and she was making her sourpuss "I have something in my mouth, but I'm not sure I want to swallow it - yet I don't want to spit it out either" face. (The same face she makes when she picks up and stashes carpeting fibers in her cheeks). She kind of purses her lips together... anyways, she was making that face. I just knew she had a marble in her mouth. I jammed my finger in there and sure enough, she had a pink marble tucked up in the roof of her mouth! I didn't ever buy these marbles. I have never seen these marbles before. My best guess is that they were in the bottom of that box she was playing with... the box of breast pads that were handed down to me from a friend who was done using them. I guess that's a lesson for me to check and recheck even what I think is safe to begin with.

Laura has been standing independently for a couple weeks now. Each day she's getting a little longer with her stance. We're all just waiting for her to take a step now. She loves her little push car that Logan let her borrow. We have some really cute pictures of her pushing it around the living room last week.

She has a couple words now:
ma-ma
da-da
"kitty"
bu (boo)
uh-oh
She has obviously been doing ma-ma and da-da for awhile now, but she's doing it much more frequently. Still not always discriminately, but she uses ma-ma very appropriately when she's whiney (think - middle of the night).
Just today when I picked her up from Lynne's house, they told me she says "boo" and "uh-oh". We were able to get her to repeat both of them this evening. Really don't believe she knows what they mean, but she says them.
Now, "kitty"...that one she knows what it means. We always say "kitty cat" with a tone in our voice that is sing-songy and she doesn't SAY Kitty, but she does the sing-songy thing with her voice so she is associating that sound with the kitties. She even did it this weekend when we were visiting Aunt Dawn and Uncle Kevin and the kittens were squeaking.

I'm sure there is a lot more I could write since it's been 2 weeks, but my brain is ready for bed.

I had a day off of work yesterday and I did something I didn't think I could do - I sent Laura to daycare and I stayed home to scrapbook. I got 6 pages done for Laura's book. 1 month done. 11 to go to get her 1 year album done...! I was really pleased with how the pages turned out :)

Laura has been whiney lately. I saw a great sign today at a doctor's office "There will be a $5.00 charge for whining". I'm thinking it's more teeth trying to come through. She is poking one finger in her mouth a lot and she was up 4 times overnight last night. Ugh! 11-1-3-5... that's like a newborn! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she does better tonight and now it's a tad after 9pm...and I'm headed to bed.

I'm so glad that you caught that marble, that would have been SO bad! I always know if something is in Colin's mouth if he fights me tooth and nail! If he is free and clear, he lets me dig away, if not, boy it's a fight!
